With the relatively meagre data available, it tries to make some comparison between lesbians and gay men over 60. It explores their sexual behavior, both their physical and psychological health, and how aging has affected them.

With all its faults, this study, begun in 1983, is the first attempt to reach a nationwide representation of lesbian elders in order to gather information about their background, their relationship with their families of origin, and, for those married to men, with their husbands, children, and grandchildren. Recent and current research about elder lesbians largely confirms the observations of the Kehoe survey that older lesbians have: (1) often created a variety of social, sexual, and domestic experiences during their lives (2) focused their social lives around a network of friends (3) often not maintained close familial ties and (4) avoided using conventional senior services often due to perceived discrimination. This comparison sheds light on the consistency of the attitudes, behaviors, and relationships of elder lesbians over the past 20 years. Specifically, this article describes the results of the original survey and discusses these findings in light of subsequent research findings. We report the findings of this study now not only because they have historical importance, but also because they remain relevant to the current life experiences and needs of elder lesbians. Monika Kehoe and colleagues, which described the social life, family relationships, relationships with women, sexuality, health, and health care services of elder lesbians. This article reports on a previously unpublished survey of a community of elder lesbians collected in 1984 by Dr. Among these meanings and importance, I expose: the possibility of having company, affection and care, of obtaining daily sustenance and of giving continuity to their sexuality. In addition, they are influenced by external factors such as, for example: censorship of their sexuality and the lack of spaces for lesbo-socialization designed for older women. I argue that the building of sex-affective relationships and the meanings and importance attributed depend, among others, of their life courses, their current material situation, the degree of closeness to their families, their life expectations and self-perception. From the field work, I identify that gender and sexuality shape aging experiences of this segment. This, to understand how their life trajectories affect the way they build their sex-affective life in old age. Following the approaches of feminist gerontology and the life course, in this research I compiled the life stories of eight lesbians over sixty. This article analyzes the construction of the sex-affective relationships of older lesbians in Bogotá.
